Receipt scanning is local-first. Photos are processed on this HomeSync server when Local OCR is available; pasted receipt/order text is always parsed locally.

Local Receipt Recognition · Default

No API key and no per-scan fee. HomeSync uses a local Tesseract OCR engine on the HomeSync server, then applies Pantry Intelligence locally.

Enhanced Recognition · Optional

OpenAI is never used automatically. If you choose Enhanced Recognition after a difficult local scan, HomeSync can send only that receipt image to the configured OpenAI API. Usage is billed to that API account.

Enhanced Recognition is optional and off by default.
SMART HOME PROVIDER

Hubspace

Direct control for supported Home Depot Hubspace/Afero lights, fans, switches and outlets.

Hubspace is an unofficial cloud integration. Turning this provider off hides Hubspace devices without deleting the saved connection.

UNIVERSAL SMART HOME BRIDGE

Home Assistant

Connect Home Assistant once to bring supported Ring, Roomba, Matter, lights, locks, thermostats, sensors, cameras and other integrations into HomeSync.

Create a long-lived token in your Home Assistant profile. HomeSync encrypts the token and never displays it again. Turning the provider off preserves the connection.

NATIVE THERMOSTAT PROVIDER

Google Nest

Connect a Nest thermostat directly to HomeSync through Google Device Access. Home Assistant is not required.

Google handles sign-in and device permission. HomeSync never receives your Google password. The HomeSync server must first be configured with a Google Device Access project by the Super Admin.

VOICE ASSISTANT

Amazon Alexa

Connect a private Alexa skill to HomeSync using a dedicated API token and granular permissions.

HomeSync uses the platform public URL configured by the Super Admin. Keep the NAS private behind Cloudflare Tunnel.

The token is shown only when generated. Copy it into the Lambda environment variable HOMESYNC_TOKEN.
